Captain James Stirling-Family
v James was born in 1791 on January 28th in Scotland
v He was fifth son of fifteen
v His father’s name was Andrew and mother's was Anne
v His family was well known
v With such a well known family it was said to be natural for him to join the navy at 12

Coming to Western Australia
v In 1826 James was sent to Western Australia by the governor of New South Wales
v He was really impressed with the land and the Swan River
v When he returned to London in 1828 ,he said for the settlement to be established
v He succeeded on February 9th 1829
v He arrived to what was called the Swan River colony on the 31st of May
v He administered the new colony until December 1838
v The creation of Western Australia's Legislative Council in 1830.Stirling be came an official member
v Stirling was granted land near Beverley, Western Australia
Death
Death is still a mystery. All we know is he died in Edinburgh, Scotland on the 23rd of April 1865.

James Stirling (1791- 1865) was the first Western Australian Governor. He was the fifth son of eight boys of the fifteen children of Andrew Stirling. Andrew Stirling, and James Stirling’s father was from Drumpellier,Lancashire and Scotland. James died in Edinburgh, Scotland on the 23rd of April 1865. At 12 years of age, James entered, as a first class volunteer the Navy. Admiral, Sir James Stirling was a British marine officer colonial administrator. The Stirling family was very well known and celebrated in the naval annals of the 18 century. By Claudia D'Souza.

James Stirling was born in the year 1791, in Scotland Anne, his mother, was his father’s cousin and the daughter of Admiral Sir Walter Stirling and the sister of Sir Walter Stirling, the first baronet, of Faskine. At 12, Stirling entered the navy as a first class volunteer. He was lucky at first in having the patronage of his uncle, Rear Admiral Charles Stirling. Soon after arriving in the West Indies, James was transferred to the Hercules, and in 1805 he went to serve on his uncle’s flagship ‘Glory’. After Stirling got married he and his wife had 5 sons and 6 daughters.James was sent to Western Australia in 1825, by the governor of New South Wales. By Hayley Ryan.
